![]() While I am not making excuses for the people at these kinds of facilities, they are not scanning the pictures for a watermark. That could conceivably get you in more trouble than you want. ![]() I don't think your video idea is a good idea, remember you are entering private property and you don't have open access to shoot there. It varies from store to store, there have been many threads before with the same theme. I agree that it is not right but are there not bigger issues in your business than this. You are looking for lost revenue on three 4圆. In case you missed it, this is the Business of Photography forum and it is supposed to be serious. Why so serious? Wal mart isn't the entire problem, but they are part of it. ![]() | Joshua O'Neill Photography | My Flickr Page. Tomorrow I am planning on going to walmart, with a friend with video camera in hand to pick up the photos i submitted and to make a formal complaint with the management as well as to archive use the video as evidence if i decide to take it further. Tonight I have submitted a set of photos online to be printed out in the store, all of the photos in my set are watermarked and i even added the "do not copy or reproduce without photographer's written consent" just for kicks. I'm not terribly unhappy with the students as they are doing a very common thing, especially since their 18 and most likely don't know better however i am very unhappy with walmart as they have company policies and legal obligations they are required to follow. This also caused me a loss of profit, something that most people I know don't take too kindly to. On my photographs it is very clearly taken in a studio setting as even in low resolution you are able to determine the quality, My Watermark Is clearly displayed in a overlay over each individual image, and yet walmart still printed my photos and sold them for profit without any type of copyright release or any documentation what so ever. I have spoken to the students recently and out of the four, three of them told me that they took my images to wal-mart and had them printed up there, as 4圆's. I gave each one a single Low-resolution digital file (600x400 pixels) with watermark for them to use on facebook to show their friends and to help promote myself. a few weeks back I photographed four students (individually and in groups together) in my studio using a high-key white background. So Here we go, another one of these threads. ![]()
